HARRISONBURG -- One city in the Valley is starting a program to become more green. It's a program that's 10 years in the making.
The City of Harrisonburg is starting a tree steward program to increase awareness about trees. The program will teach people about trees, how to properly take care of them and how to plant one. The program costs $50 if you live in the city or $60 if you don't.
"What we are trying to do more is to put together a volunteer group. So people can still stay together after the training class has finished," said Senior Services Coordinator Gail Ham.
The once a week course will start August 19 and will go through October 21. If you would like to sign up or get information the number is 540-433-9168.
