People In Harrisonburg Celebrate Court Day

HARRISONBURG, Va. - People in Harrisonburg celebrated part of the city's heritage at the annual Court and Markets Day Festival on Saturday.

The event recreates the atmosphere of 19th-century court days when people would come from all over the county to catch up on news and business.

Civil war-era dancers, music and craftsmen were all a part of the event.

People at the event say that it provides a good glimpse into Harrisonburg's past.

"I think it's important for small towns to remember their roots, why they existed, and what happened there and again for the community to be able to come together in downtown in one space," says Jake Lee, who lives in Harrisonburg.

More than 500 people attend the event each year.
