HARRISONBURG, VA - Big Brothers Big Sisters, a program to help kids in our area, is now getting a little help from Perdue.
The Arthur W Perdue foundation presented Harrisonburg and Rockingham County Big Brothers Big Sisters a 10-thousand dollar check Tuesday.
This is the second year Perdue has donated this amount. The organization serves more youth than any other affiliate in the state.
Jeff Jones started mentoring while he attended Bridgewater College.
He now works at Perdue and wants to keep the tradition going.
"In this area, theres a lot of kids who want to be what they see," said Jones. "And they don't see a lot of good. So, just three hours a week of them being around somebody who is doing something positive might change their life, so it's worth it."
Mentors like jones provide friendship and support to children, encouraging them to make positive choices.
He hopes this donation will bring attention so people will also donate time.
