Personal Property Tax Relief Decreasing

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- For those of you living in Rockingham County, you can expect to pay a little bit more in personal property taxes this year.

Each year, the county receives almost $6 million in personal property tax relief from Virginia. That is spread among everyone that owns a personal vehicle in the county.

At their last meeting, the board of supervisors voted to decrease the personal property tax relief rate from 53 percent to 51 percent.

Part of the reason for the decrease is there are more vehicles on the road in the county.
