FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) -- A pilot escaped injury after his small plane ran out of fuel and made an emergency landing in Fredericksburg.
Shannon Airport manager Robert Stanley says the plane landed Monday morning in a field next to a WaWa store parking lot about a quarter mile from the airport.
Stanley says the pilot had tried to land at two other airports because the plane was running low on fuel. Fog prevented him from landing at the other airports and he headed to Shannon Airport. But the plane ran out of fuel, forcing the pilot to land in the field.
The plane was damaged. But Stanley says there wasn't any other property damage.
