Plea in Works for Mass. Woman who Posed as Boy

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) -- A Massachusetts woman accused of posing as a 17-year-old boy to prey on a West Virginia girl intends to enter a plea next week in federal court.

U.S. Magistrate John Kaull entered an order Monday scheduling an Oct. 10 hearing for 25-year-old Carissa Hads of Quincy. The document says she's entered a plea agreement with the government, but it does not specify details.

Hads' public defender didn't immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

Hads previously pleaded not guilty to one count of traveling in interstate commerce to engage in illegal sexual conduct.

Investigators say Hads pretended to be a 17-year-old boy and began an online relationship with the girl in 2010. She visited the Lewis County teen at least three times and had a sexual encounter in February.
