HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- If you have a police report to file in Harrisonburg, you no longer have to be at the police station to fill out a form.

Due to a grant last year, police are now using the online system Coplogic.

Lt. Roger Knott said the computer by the police department offices is used often by visitors, but now certain reports can be filed from anywhere. With the new online system, which has been online for two months you can file an animal complaint, harassment and other non-criminal complaints.

The new system has already received about 30 reports.

Now police are trying to work out the bugs so they can later accept criminal larcenies and traffic crashes online. It's something that could save businesses and others time.

"Sometimes they're waiting for a while. This allows them the access to the Internet and to make that report an official report and if it needs to be followed up on the officers can respond," said Knott.

Phase two is expected to happen within six months.
