WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) -- The Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a Waynesboro man who was wanted from Waynesboro and Augusta County.
Curtis Fletcher Hewitt, 23, had been wanted on General District Court capiases since December.
During the course of his arrest, the officers seized a loaded firearm, ski mask, bags of marijuana and nearly $1,800 in cash.
On February 23, at approximately 4:15 p.m., an officer noticed Hewitt riding in a vehicle on South Delphine Avenue.
Since the officer knew Hewitt was wanted, he stopped the vehicle and arrested him.
During the arrest, Hewitt dropped a small bag of marijuana.
Two additional bags of marijuana were also located in the vehicle in addition to a semi-automatic handgun that was reported stolen from a Harrisonburg residence in 2009.
The officer found the cash on Hewitt, which he claimed came from his tax return.
After his arrest, officers executed a search warrant for Hewitt’s motel room at Quality Inn where they found material consistent with marijuana distribution.
In addition to the court capiases, Hewitt has been charged with two felonies, distribution of marijuana and possession of stolen firearm.
