WINCHESTER, Va. (WHSV) -- The Winchester Police Department arrested two people early Thursday morning following a pursuit through the city.

Just after midnight, officers were in the 800 block of Berryville Avenue when they saw a male pull his vehicle into the middle of a parking lot, rev his engine, and start doing doughnuts in the lot. When officers attempted to pull the car over, it left the parking lot, travelling westbound on Berryville Avenue toward Pleasant Valley Road at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle continued through the city running a red light, nearly causing a crash, and eventually came to a stop in the 100 block of North Euclid Avenue. Officers made contact with the passenger Sierra Hart, 18, of Winchester, and the driver, Joshua Wayne Hoke, 25, of Winchester. When searching the vehicle officers found marijuana and a large sum of cash.

Hoke was arrested and charged with reckless driving, eluding police, driving under the influence, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, grand larceny, and driving with a revoked license. Hart was charged with possession of alcohol under the age of 21 and distribution of marijuana.

They were both taken to the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center. Hoke was held without bond.
