Police Arrest One, Search for Another in Credit Card Theft Case

HARRISONBURG -- Police made one arrest and are actively searching for another in connection with a credit card theft and forgery case.

On Friday, investigators obtained warrants for two men, Michael Andrew Webb, 20, Churchville, and Joshua Russell Rankin, 35, Staunton, in relation to larceny and theft of credit cards and fraudulent use at department stores.

Officers arrested Webb and he is being held at Middle River Regional Jail. He is charged with the following:

  • Twenty-one (21) felony counts of conspiracy to commit a felony

  • Two (2) misdemeanor counts of entering a vehicle with the intent to commit a crime

  • Two (2) felony counts of grand larceny 

  • Six (6) felony counts of credit card larceny 

  • Two (2) felony counts of credit card fraud

  • Three (3) felony counts of receiving goods fraudulently

  • Three (3) felony counts of credit card forgery

  • Two (2) felony counts of identity theft

  • Thee (3) felony counts of money laundering

Investigators are still searching for Rankin. Anyone with information about Rankin's whereabouts is asked to call Crime Solvers at 540-574-5050. Tipsters may also text “HPD” plus their tip to CRIMES (274637). Callers are able to remain anonymous.
