Your morning commute or just a drive around Harrisonburg running errands can be putting your life in jeopardy.
That depends on which streets you take because you may drive through one of the city's most dangerous intersections.
Harrisonburg Police Sergeant Pete Ritchie is mapping out where those areas are.
This year's top three: Reservoir Street, Port Republic Road, and East Market Street.
Drivers like Kenneth Hilliard aren't surprised that Reservoir is the worst.
"I've noticed it and I've seen quite a few accidents," said Hilliard about Reservoir.
Ritchie says along Reservoir between Cantrell and Neff Avenues police have seen 50 car crashes this year alone.
"Just as if you put a pin on a map, and you keep putting pins on a map, then you look at the overall map, you're like 'wow that's significant.' We need to somehow do something about that," said Ritchie.
The map shows the most dangerous road by far is Reservoir. The reason? Ritchie says there are lots of businesses and distracted drivers.
"Some of these accidents are because people motion people to come out when it's not safe and it's not clear," said Ritchie.
Some drivers already know it's not safe, and they say they're extra careful on these roads.
"You have to be on the defense, besides your own driving, you have to look out for everybody and they've got to look out for you too but it doesn't always work that way," said Hilliard.
Ritchie says the city is already looking to expand part of Reservoir Street to help traffic. Plus, he says officers may add signs that say Reservoir Street is a 'high risk' area to warn drivers.
