HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Eastern Mennonite University and 24 other colleges across Virginia kicked off Private College Week on Monday.

It's a chance for students and families to tour private schools. If they tour at least three, they can apply to a few schools with no application fee.

Mary May, whose daughter visited EMU, said private campuses feel more like home for her daughter.

"Sarah has felt more comfortable at a private college. You know there's a more family atmosphere," said May.

At EMU, they also talked about financial aid. Saying 100 percent of students receive financial aid.

The average assistance package is about $23,000.

Bridgewater College, Mary Baldwin College, and Shenandoah University are also taking part.
