HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- The Diesel Emissions Reduction Act is one of the nation's most proven, cost effective and successful clean air programs.

Allen Schaeffer, the executive director of the Diesel Technology Forum, said it's proposed for zero funding in the most recent 2015 budget proposal.

The current funding goes toward grants for small businesses and fleet operators to upgrade diesel equipment.

Dennis Rawley, the general manager at Valley Implement Sales in Harrisonburg, said he just received some Tier 4 tractors Monday, which meet the highest grade of EPA emissions standards.

He said he is surprised by the response of the community.

"So far I would say that the customers have handled it pretty well. We've sold quite a few Tier 4 tractors and Tier 4 skid loaders, those are the main things this is affecting. So far the customers have been really pleased with them," said Rawley.

Rawley also said the higher prices are not holding back as many people as he thought they would.
