HARRISONBURG -- A Valley organization is looking for help to improve sidewalks and bike paths in the area. People can voice their thoughts online by using an interactive map. You can get to that interactive map here: wikimapping.com/wikimap/project120.htm#.UXWua6KG3Sd
The map is for a bike and pedestrian plan for Harrisonburg and Rockingham County. It includes the towns of Dayton, Bridgewater and Mount Crawford.
Leaders of the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission are looking at the paths already in place, like bike paths and lanes, sidewalks, and shared roads. They want people to comment on what they think about the current infrastructure and what changes they'd like to see in the future.
"We need their help. They are the ones that are out there, that are using this infrastructure, that's out there now and see their needs where there are deficiencies in that infrastructure," said Kevin McDermott, a transportation planner.
McDermott said a plan should be complete by the end of the year.
