Quilt Museum Opens New Man-Tailored Exhibit

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- The Virginia Quilt Museum in Harrisonburg has just opened a new exhibit that it hopes will interest not only women, but also men.

The new exhibit, Men Who Quilt, features 35 quilts from men all across Virginia.

Meegan Carr, the executive director for the museum, said she can see a difference between the quilts made by men and by women; as those made by men are more likely to be geometric in shape.

She encourages all men to get interested in the quilting art-form.

"Get creative. Go and look at colors. Don't think of it as quilting in the traditional lady's work sense. Get out there and use it as an art-form. Build your quilt," said Carr.

Men who Quilt will be open through Dec. 20.
