STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- A mental health discussion was held at Mary Baldwin college Tuesday night.

A screening of the film "Silver Linings Playbook" was followed by a discussion with Valley mental health professionals.

The film follows characters with bipolar disorder, OCD, and a recent traumatic loss.

The panel included counselors and social work professionals.

Students asked questions brought up by the film's story, including the power of positivity over mental illness.

"The power of positive thinking is a very important thing, but one should never discount the benefits of getting help too, and other things are out there, so you just can't out-think yourself out of a problem, a physical illness, or a mental health issue," said Robert Tucker, the emergency services manager at Valley Community Services Board.

The screening and panel were the third of the Reel Abilities events at Mary Baldwin College.
