Rep. Bob Goodlatte Tours Bloomaker in Augusta County

AUGUSTA COUNTY,Va (WHSV)-- Bloomaker, Inc. plans to more than double their tulip sales in five years, and also will be adding more jobs.

They plan to add about 90 seasonal more jobs thanks to an expansion to the current green house and to the cooling space.

They import the bulbs and then finish them at this facility. Rep. Goodlatte said that it's important to have local businesses that ship across the country.

"Means more job creation, a healthier economy, and not just in the production in this plant but in all the businesses that do business with this plant," said Rep. Goodlatte.

"Once we drove around here, this was number one. And we figured we could reach 70, 75 percent of the population out of this area," said Joe Paternostre, the CEO of Bloomaker.

The ribbon cutting to celebrate the expansion will be in October.
