MCGAHEYSVILLE, Va. -- The winter ski season started late again this year for one ski resort.
Massanutten Resort opened slopes on Christmas day just in time for their busy season. The busy season started on Wednesday and runs through the beginning of 2013.
Two ski slopes were open on Wednesday afternoon.
People at Massanutten hoped to open more slopes before the weekend. The fresh, falling snow helped to bring business to the ski lodge.
“The natural snow is advertising that you just can't buy,” said Steven Showalter, a worker at Massanutten Resort, “It just puts people in the mood. Skiing and snowboarding and tubing is all about snow and when they see natural snow they know its time to go out.”
People who work at the lodge think business will continue to pick up as long as temperatures stay low enough.
