STAUNTON, Va -- Two neighbors at the Legacy at North Augusta came up with the idea to make pillows and stuffed animals for children in need. People, who live there, have already made more than 800 of them this year.

A group of people work on creating the crafts from start to finish. That means they design, sew and stuff them.

The community wants to give back to people in the Valley. There are usually about 12 people involved in this project. They have worked hard all year to help children in need.

Emma Grant, the group's founder, said it is worth it to make children happy.

“We put a lot of work into it, too, but I think they appreciate them. We enjoy doing it, too,” said Grant.

The stuffed animals and pillows go to children in the Valley, including kids at the Augusta Regional Dental Clinic and Augusta Health. The group started about three years ago.

Last year, they made more than 1,000 items for kids here in the Valley.
