The Rockingham County School Board has started to discuss this year's budget. The board held a public hearing on this Monday night at their first meeting of the year.
A spokesperson for the Rockingham County Education Association spoke during the hearing. She says they put together a survey of what's needed this year, and all school employees say they need a raise.
The survey found that teachers are making less than last year. They're asking the board for a four percent raise for all school employees this year, as part of the budget.
The board hasn't made a decision on this yet.
