BROADWAY -- The Rockingham County School Board held a public hearing Wednesday night to discuss its budget. No one from the community came to speak about their concerns. The board unanimously voted to approve the budget.

The school district's budget requests $52.5 million from Rockingham County, a 2% employee salary increase, an extra $230,000 for various substitutes, including teachers or bus drivers.
The entire 2013-2014 budget has a $116 million price tag.

Rockingham County Schools Superintendent Dr. Carol Fenn is still unsure what all this will mean if across the board federal cuts hit.

"We're awaiting for some impact to our federal funding programs. We have maybe as much of a quarter of a million to 300 thousand dollars that we might need to accommodate if the sequester does happen negatively impacting Rockingham County Schools," said Fenn.

The proposed budget will be turned in on April 1 and then the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors will meet to approve the budget.
