A Harrisonburg business is closing its doors after spending 38 years in the Valley renting out equipment to customers.
Rockingham Rent All is closing at the end of September.
Co-owners Chip and Karen Rothery are retiring and decided to close their store.
"We're friends with the customers, we're business friends," Chip said. "You know, the customers come in and we smile at them, joke with them, help them get the right tool for the job. The customers are what makes the business what it is."
The co-owners tried to find someone to take over their business, but they couldn't find anyone to take over their store.
"It's sad to be departing," Karen said. "It's been worth it, it's been fun. It's a good thing to do to be able to have a small business, which is hard to do today."
Karen said closing the store is bittersweet.
"We've enjoyed serving the community, and we're just sorry we couldn't find anybody it would work with."
Chip said there's one message he'd like to get out to the community.
"Thanks for 38 great years," Chip said. "It's been good to be, it's been good to the community, and the community's been good to us. It's long enough, it's time to retire."
The couple plans to hold an auction to sell its equipment in late October.
They plan to travel after closing the store.
