A new report calls several cities in the Valley some of the safest in Virginia. The list, compiled by Safewise.com, lists Broadway as number one in the state.
The report used FBI crime data. It considered cities with a population of 3,000 residents and higher.
It spoke highly of Broadway for its Community Park and fantastic police department. It mentioned that your likelihood of being a victim of a violent or property crime is around one in 1,000.
Tina Mitchell commented on the report online. She is a mother of three, is originally from Harrisonburg, and now lives in Broadway.
"That makes you feel good, you know, to know that you went from one good place to another good place, instead of going good to bad. We're not going to walk out our doors or walk down the street and be harmed and our children are pretty much safe here, too," said Mitchell.
Also on the list, Bridgewater came in at number 12, Harrisonburg at number 23, and Staunton picked up number 25.
