SHENANDOAH VALLEY, Va.-- It is National Salvation Army Week and volunteers are wanting to show their appreciation.

Volunteers are making stops around the Valley passing out doughnuts and coffee to show their appreciation.

Volunteers said they hope to reach several hundred people by the end of the week.

Tuesday, they will be at the Elkton Community Center from 7-9 a.m.

Duane Burleigh is the Captain of the local Salvation Army.

"I've been to different areas, I've been to upstate NY and Kentucky, even right down the street in Winchester. I've never seen such a community that comes together to help their neighbors like this one does. When there is a need, they respond and they do it without thought of themselves," said Burleigh.

Although the coffee is free, the organization is accepting donations.
