A good neighbor is making sure you're safe when disaster strikes.

The Salvation Army of Harrisonburg and Rockingham county is on call right now,in case they're needed.

Captain Duane Burleigh said they have their emergency disaster vehicle ready to go.

He said they also have a crew that would assist anywhere in the community, state or country.

The Salvation Army said if there is a need for shelter, it will open an emergency shelter on Ashby Avenue.

Burleigh said they will also help feed people in other shelters, if needed.

" We've been very active since we've been tracking the storm because it's better to be prepared and not be needed than not be prepared and be needed so we try to stay on top of it," Burleigh said.

Burleigh said if you need any help during the storm, call the police or county services.

He said they will be the ones calling organizations like the Salvation Army for help.
