Harrisonburg, Va. (WHSV) --- The Harrisonburg Salvation Army shelter is in jeopardy of closing, but Tuesday they got some good news. They received the extension, they'll need to raise $155,000.

They now have until May 15, 2014.

The money will help them stay open for this year and the next few years.

"To make not only a band aid for this year, but to start on our long-term security and that's what the goal is that we'll never have to go through this crisis again, that we can build up a fund that we can support this shelter and its needs and meet the needs of the people for years," said Duane Burleigh, the Captain of the Salvation Army in Harrisonburg.

So far, the Salvation Army has raised close to $90,000, the city contributed $50,000 of those donations.
