HARRISONBURG -- Many people in the Valley are receiving calls from people saying they are from Microsoft and have been monitoring your computer.

The scam starts with a phone call. They said you need to pay for software that costs $299. The program says you have many viruses and you have to fix them.

Valley Microcomputers has received many phone calls from people thinking it was them.

"Don't take the call, it's bogus. Microsoft does not call you. Microsoft will never call you. Number two, you should never allow anybody to work on your machine if you have never heard of that giving you a call out of the phone book," said President of Valley Microcomputers Ron Shenk.

Shenk said if anybody with any company calls they should already have your information.
