Schools Collecting Denim to Donate

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- Rockingham County Schools are collecting denim as students from all over the county have been bringing it to school to donate.

The students have been donating gently used denim clothes, anything from jeans to shirts, to be donated.

The denim will be given to community thrift stores in Harrisonburg and Rockingham County.

Mercy House, Gift and Thrift, and The Salvation Army are just a few who will receive clothes.

"Our goal in this was to hopefully help students develop a better understanding of a necessity to give back to our communities. Our community does so much for us so why not give back to them too," said Tammy Shearer, Assistant Principal at John C. Myers Elementary School

The school denim drive ends January 20.
