Sen. Mark Warner Co-Sponsoring Bill Impacting Breweries

HARRISONBURG, VA United States Senator Mark Warner says he prefers a nice glass of wine over a pint of beer, but he isn't taking sides when it comes to help both industries grow. The Senator is co- sponsoring a federal bill that would have an impact on breweries in the valley.

The beer industry in the Commonwealth is hopping. The Governor says bringing in 52,000 jobs and $1.3 billion in taxes. The bill would make it so breweries would pay less taxes on the beer they produce.

If you talk to some of our local breweries including Three Brothers Brewing right down the road, the idea is getting some great reviews. Adam Shifflet one of owners say the beer industry has become a tourist attraction in the Commonwealth bringing in plenty of money, and the tax break would go a long way in growing their business.

"Anything that cuts that overhead helps small businesses and helps us grow and invest in equipment in personnel and jobs," says Adam Shifflett with Three Brothers Brewing.
