ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- The crowds at the Rockingham County Fair continue to increase, which is why there will now be more parking spaces.
The fair will have seven extra acres for parking, which will add 800 parking spots to the already 6,000 spots.
The land is being leased from a farmer for the next three years.
Rockingham County Fair Association General Manager Jeff Ishee said it will also double the current 300 handicap spaces.
He said parking can be a hassle, especially during the busiest day of the fair.
"The parking lot will certainly help to alleviate the traffic situation because sometimes it gets backed up into Harrisonburg. We are trying to get people into the fairgrounds and parked quickly," said Ishee.
The extra space will be available for events year-round.
