The Center is moving its offices into the fourth floor of the R.R. Smith Center for History and Art in Downtown Staunton. They hired more employees and plan to take over the entire floor.
The Shakespeare Center wants to spruce up the fourth floor for their offices.
The move is planned for this July.
The building used to be a hotel and dates to the late 1800s.
The center will join other organizations to make the building a cultural hub for the city.
“This can be a cornerstone to the downtown, a real place for artistic and cultural work for the downtown area,” said Amy Wratchford with American Shakespeare Center. “There's so much arts and culture happening downtown. To have a hub of that is going to be great."
The building is home to the Augusta County Historical Society and an art center.
