WEYERS CAVE, VA -- Thousands of flights were cancelled on Wednesday because of a snowstorm that hit the Valley.

Plenty of people decided to reschedule flights out of the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport in Weyers Cave.

United Airlines and Frontier Airlines fly out of SHD.

United cancelled dozens of flights heading to D.C. because of Wednesday's snow.

Customers had the option to re-schedule a flight, and many people did so out of SHD.

Greg Campbell, the airport's director, said he expects more people to fly out of SHD this week.

"With storms like this, it can take a couple of days sometimes for everyone to get where they're headed," Campbell said. "Eventually, it gets back to normal. Today's back to normal. Our first departure was on time, our first arrival was on time, so we're back on schedule."

No Frontier flights were affected because that airline does not fly out of SHD on Wednesdays.

SHD stayed open on Wednesday for private flights.
