Weyers Cave, VA The sky isn't the limit for the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport. With flights flying daily to Dulles Airport, James Fye and his wife wouldn't fly out of any other airport.
"Convenience and you don't have to run between gates and parking is a big deal," says Fye.
Flights aren't the only thing taking off. General Manager Greg Campbell says to keep up with demand, the airport needed some attention.
"All of this has been designed to handle the growth we have had and continue to improve passenger experience and make it convenient," says Campbell.
One of the renovations you will notice at first is the parking lot. from above the blue sign is more parking spaces to accommodate more people using the airport, but go inside and the terminal is brand new making it easier to check in go through security and get your bag.
And Campbell says the numbers speak for the need for renovations. Comparing July 2013 to July 2012, the number of people using the airport is up 30 %, and so far this year they are up 17 % compared to last year.
"We are very pleased we think some of the improvements and enhancements it has certainly helped our business. we are better able to handle the increase because of the renovations," says Campbell.
And the hope is the growth will land new opportunities for the airport; either more flights or airlines. But folks say they are happy to see where things at the airport will go from here.
