FAYETTEVILLE, W.Va. Fayette County Sheriff Steve Kessler says a deputy resigned after he admitted to taking money from a fundraiser.

Kessler tells media outlets that Steven Gray resigned last week after other deputies discovered that the money hadn't been accounted for.

Kessler says Gray and the other deputies conducted the fundraiser in the spring for a local boy who has cancer through their side business, New River Tactical. The effort raised $1,000.

The sheriff says Gray has paid the money back. No charges have been filed.
