SHENANDOAH COUNTY -- The Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office is investigating several mailbox vandalism cases which occurred during the weekend. The office received reports from Mount Jackson, Edinburg and Woodstock.
Most of the damaged mailboxes were on Oak Ridge Road and Ridge Hollow Road in Mount Jackson. Neighbors said they heard loud noises around 5 a.m. on Saturday.
According to neighbors, incidents like this rarely happen. Since these roads are out in the country, sometimes a trailer will accidentally hit a mailbox, but they say this damage is a result of vandalism.
Lt. Darcy Dellinger, from the Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office, said a total of 11 mailboxes were damaged. There are no suspects so far.
Anyone with information about the vandalism should contact the sheriff's office at (540) 459-6100.
