AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. -- A man is in custody Monday night after a shooting in Lyndhurst.
Around 7 p.m. Monday, shots were fired into a trailer in Lyndhurst. Those in the house called 911, and Augusta County sheriff's deputies caught up to the suspect, a man driving a white pickup, on Lyndhurst Road near Schages Lane. The suspect's truck became stuck in the mud, and he was taken into custody without resisting arrest.
"There was gunfire involved, and this was the vehicle or person that could be involved," said Lt. Aaron Leveck, the officer who stopped the suspect. "There was some anxiousness to know that I was dealing with someone that was armed and had just fired into an occupied dwelling."
Officers are still investigating the shooting and would not say if it was a random incident.
