CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Governor Terry McAuliffe's office says, the Governor and State Senator Creigh Deeds will officially sign mental health legislation passed during the legislative session.

State Senator Deeds proposed the legislation, following an attack by his son last November at the family's home in Bath County. Gus Deeds was released from an emergency custody order, after a community services hospital could not find a psychiatric bed for him. Gus later committed suicide.

The legislation extends the holding period for an emergency custody order, and creates a real-time psychiatric bed registry for the Commonwealth.

The signing of the legislation will happen on Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Charlottesville.
