Seven Arrested in Prostitution Investigation

MOUNT JACKSON, Va. (WHSV) -- Seven people have been arrested in connection to a prostitution investigation.

The Mount Jackson Police Department made six arrests on March 27.

Jason Mitchell, 29, of Stafford, Va., Daryl Mumaw, 34, of Edinburg, Va., Matthew Barlass, 29, of Strasburg, Va., Gregory Forde, 56, of Mount Jackson, Va., Justin Gibson, 30, of King George, Va. and Luis Valdez, 23, of Harrisonburg, Va. were all arrested and charged with solicitation for prostitution.

The arrests were part of a joint investigation with Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office, Woodstock Police Department, New Market Police Department and the City of Winchester Police Department.

The Shenandoah County Sheriff's Office arrested James William Deskins, 59, of Winchester, Va., on March 27. He has been charged with two misdemeanors: solicitation of a prostitute and possession of marijuana.

Deskins used to work as the Director of Economic Development for the City of Winchester. Before that, he worked for the Harrisonburg Redevelopment & Housing Authority and according to his LinkedIn profile, while there, he was the executive director.

The location of the operation has not been released due to investigative reasons.
