DAVIS, W.Va. (AP) -- Authorities say a small plane with three people on board has crashed in northern West Virginia.

Tucker County emergency services spokesman Chris Stadelman says the plane went down Friday about a mile from the Windwood Fly-In Resort near Davis. Stadelman says the resort community has a short, paved runway for private planes.

Stadelman says the pilot had to be extricated from the aircraft and the two others got out on their own. He says their conditions weren't immediately known and they were being taken to a hospital.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen described the plane as a Cessna 172 that crashed at 12:40 p.m.

What caused the plane to go down isn't immediately known.
