Snow Affects Some Flights at SHD

WEYERS CAVE, Va. (WHSV) -- The snow may be fun for some, but for others, it has been a headache.

Many flights arriving and leaving Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport Tuesday have been delayed or canceled. Everything Tuesday morning was on time, but by the afternoon, it became different story. The 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. flights to Dulles have been canceled, even though the airstrip at SHD has been clear of snow all day. Backups at Dulles have caused most of the cancellations and delays.

"The conditions here have been great all day," said SHD executive director Greg Campbell. "We've been proactive to make sure they stay that way. We continue to monitor those to be sure that we are ready on this end. We've had some corporate traffic come and go today so operations here are, from the airport's standpoint, in great shape."

The 11 p.m. flight into SHD is still on time; however, you should check in with your airline to see if your flight has been delayed or canceled.
