A new store in Harrisonburg is hoping to make a difference in our community.
Dick's Sporting Goods opened at Valley Mall on Wednesday.
Dick's Community Marketing Manager Ryan Ross said they hope to help the local economy.
Ross said they have already hired 75 people.
They're still looking to hire more for the holiday season.
He said they opened the store at Valley Mall because they didn't have one in this area.
Ross said the closest one was in Charlottesville.
He said they have a big commitment to the communities they're in.
They plan to support youth sports leagues in our area.
"I think for us being involved in the community, giving back in the community and hiring all of that is gonna help the community," he said.
The grand opening will be this weekend starting at 8 a.m. on Friday.
On Saturday and Sunday morning, two former National Football League Players will be at the store.
They will have giveaways all weekend-long.
