HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Bill Yount, the owner of a Star Heating and Cooling, said he expects a lot of calls this weekend and will have workers on standby for emergencies.
He said you can prevent problems with your furnace or air ducts if you maintain your equipment. Yount recommended that you keep furniture and other household items away from return ducts. He also said it's crucial to make sure your vents are not blocked.
Because the price of fuel is high, he said a lot of customers wait to buy it.
"A lot of people run out of fuel. They haven't kept up with their fuel, dirty filters, sometimes birds and squirrels get in the flu pipes and so it blocks that and so they don't work. So yes, it's a lot of preventive maintenance is a good thing," said Yount.
Yount expects about 50 or 60 calls just this week. That's nearly double the usual number of service calls.
