VERONA, Va. (WHSV) -- Gun control advocates and Democratic lawmakers met in Richmond Wednesday outlining proposals for the upcoming session.
One proposal would require background checks for all commercial gun purchases.
Shawn Burkholder, the owner of Hawk Hill Custom in Verona, said gun control talks don't worry him too much.
"We do have the Second Amendment to fall back on. That's the reason the forefathers put the Second Amendment in the Constitution, was to maintain our freedom," said Burkholder.
Governor Terry McAuliffe has previously said he supports some increased gun restrictions, but hasn't yet commented on Wednesday's proposals.
