State Police Investigating Shooting On Interstate 81

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY --- Virginia State Police are currently investigating a shooting that took place Saturday morning on Interstate 81.

According to police reports, the shooting happened around 12:30 A.M. near mile marker 245 in Rockingham County.

Police say a tractor-trailer and a car were both going southbound and driving side-by-side when the driver of the car shot at the tractor-trailer.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was hit in the leg. His injuries were considered non-life threatening.

Investigators say the shooting was likely caused from road rage.

Police were unable to find the driver of the car after the shooting.

The suspect was driving a blue Chevrolet HHR, which looks similar to a PT Cruiser.
