State Police Responds to Thousands of Crashes

AUGUSTA COUNTY -- Virginia State Police told WHSV that between 7 p.m. Tuesday night and about 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, it received nearly 100 calls from just Augusta County. There weren't any serious injuries.

Just in the time a WHSV reporter was at the Virginia State Police office, there were 20 open calls needing service. State police took reports of 79 accidents and several disabled vehicles.

Statewide, the troopers dealt with thousands of incidents. There were 76 crashes up in the northern areas of the Valley. Troopers were on 12 hour shifts and on call.

Virginia State Police are urging everyone to be safe.
