AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- The Staunton Mall has been sold and will now will now belong to a company called Staunton Mall LLC, the company lists its address in Delaware, according to records.
The mall sold for $4.5 million according to a special warranty deed filed in Augusta County Circuit Court.
Not much information is known about the new owner.
Many people are hopeful the new ownership will turn it around, as the mall has seen tough times in recent years as stores leave.
"We need more stores. I think it's not a destination place," said Mary Lott, who shops at the mall.
"It just needs energy. It needs a booster shot. I could be so family oriented, and have just different things for families to come to," said Mary Thompson, who also shops at the mall.
A investor from New York last bought the mall in 2010.
98 percent of the mall is considered a part of Augusta County and the rest Staunton, according to the court records.
