STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- The Valley's Queen City has been named one of the country's best mountain towns.

The City of Staunton received the honor from "Travel and Leisure". The magazine released a list of America's 20 Favorite Mountain Towns and Staunton came in at number 18.

The magazine pointed to the American Shakespeare Center's Blackfriars Playhouse as a big draw for tourists as well as a downtown chock full of shops and restaurants.

Two Staunton natives shared their favorite things about the city.

"I'd have to say it's the downtown. I live downtown, I love walking downtown and stopping in all the businesses," said Debbie Metz.

"I love the small town feeling yet the ability to have all kinds of things available to me, all kinds of activities I can participate in," said Brigitte Cowan.

Ninth-ranked Charlottesville was the only other Virginia city to make the list.
