STAUNTON If you missed some of the films that picked up Oscars this year, you may be in luck. The Visulite and Dixie Theaters are bringing back several of the films that took big awards.
The theater will be playing Gravity in 3d starting Friday.
The Dixie will be playing Dallas Buyer's Club for a week, as well as another run of 12 Years a Slave. The theater is also currently finishing their runs of 12 Years a Slave, winner of Best Picture, and Her, which won Best Screenplay. The theater says they like to have substantial films in Staunton, and offer a diverse range of films.
Playing Oscar winners gives people who didn't catch them in their first run another chance.
"Sometimes they slip between the cracks. We will show them for a week or two and then they're gone and people just miss them, and now that these films have this new energy and this new relevence in the weeks following the Oscars, we just think it's important to bring these important, really substantial films back and give them another shot," said Kajun Waybright, General Manager of the Visulite.
The theaters are also playing the Lego Movie, which they tell us has drawn the biggest crowds since Gravity in October.
