STAUNTON -- City leaders are still trying to figure out when to hold the restaurant week. For the last two years, it's been in March, but this year it may not be until late summer or fall.
The city's tourism director, Sheryl Wagner, wasn't even originally planning on having it this year due to what she thought was a lack of interest. She has recently gotten some feedback from restaurants that would like to have it again, though.
In past years, there were strict requirements about price range and meals offered, which created reluctance among some restaurants.
If the city does it again, officials are considering allowing restaurants to make more of the decisions. Wagner still thinks past years went well. "I would say it's been successful. I think it could've been more successful if we had more participation, and by opening it up, and opening it up and letting them choose their price point and their number of courses, I think we'll get more participation from our restaurants," she said.
She said they are interested in making it similar to Harrisonburg's Taste of Downtown. The event may be in September, but adds they are still in the planning phase.
