HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- A Washington, D.C based dance group visited a local elementary school Tuesday morning.

Step Afrika put on a show for about 75 fourth grade students at Stone Spring Elementary School to show the importance of art education.

J.R. Snow, the coordinator or fine arts for Harrisonburg City Schools, said it is important to get these sort of performances done for students, especially when having to deal with things like budget cuts these days.

"The importance of having an opportunity for students to see high-quality level performance so students can walk away with a really better understanding of what the story is about through experimental learning," said Snow.

Step Afrika will also be performing at the JMU Forbes Center Tuesday evening.

The show is close to a sell out.
